Malene Helgø from Furuset Tennis Klubb went on to win singles and doubles this weekend at the inaugural Norwegian Open in Sandefjord. In singles she beat Lisa Ponomar 63 46 63 and secured her first doubles title with Astrid Brune Olsen beating Nora Niedmers Germany / Yukina Saigo Japan 61 64.
We would like to thank all the international participants for coming to Norway ( we had players from Australia, Japan, Mexico, USA and Russia ) and hope they enjoyed their time. We would also thank Sandefjord Tennis Club for providing us with their great venue for us to organise the Open.
This was the first time Norwegian Open has been organised outside Oslo and has proved an instant success. Sandefjord tennis Club is a great place for events and the city has an infrastructure that few other cities in Scandinavia can match with trains, ferries and Torp Airport airport less than 15 minutes away. We are already planning 2019 for an even bigger and better event in this fabulous city.
